I went to a couple of Quito's art museums today (7.22.14). The first three are all by an artist named Guillermo Muriel

My favorite exhibits today were at the contemporary art museum.
They had one exhibition of the photos and documentary Wasteland which if you haven't seen is really good. The pictures are beautiful and captivating especially when you know the peoples stories - so watch the movie.
But my favorite exhibit was a reimagining of history in which the Aztecs colonized Europe rather than Europeans colonizing the Americas. It is a book I hope to buy but I loved the paintings and "artifacts"
Along with multiple museums I also went to a few incredible churches. Unfortunately they don't allow pictures inside but feel free to check this one out.
Iglesia de Compañía de Jesús is a jesuit church famous for it's astounding gold work. Honestly even if you aren't into churches or gold, the church is crazy intense.
